Rs 6,123.26 Crore Cash Gift Disbursed
The cash gift of Rs 3000 to each of the beneficiaries was announced by Chief Minister M K Stalin and its distribution through 24,924 fair price shops across the State began on Thursday January 8, along with Pongal gift hamper comprising a kilo raw rice, a kilo of sugar and a full length sugarcane.
Chennai:Ration card holders in the State and residents of the rehabilitation camps for Sri Lankan Tamils have been distributed a total cash gift of Rs 6123.26 till Monday, the government announced.

Till Monday, 2,04,10,899 ‘rice card’ holders had been disbursed the Rs 3000 Pongal gift through the gargantuan process, in which the distribution of cash gift and other articles was staggered by issuing tokens mentioning the date and time to the beneficiaries.
