CM Vijay Runs TN on 4 AM Calls and 20-Hour Days, Says Minister
The minister added that within its first 100 days, the government has already moved firmly against corruption and financial leakages
As Tamil Nadu's actor-turned-politician Chief Minister Vijay completes 100 days in office, his close aide and Public Works and Sports Development Minister Aadhav Arjuna has lifted the curtain on the CM's punishing daily routine — one that reportedly stretches to nearly 20 hours a day.
Speaking at a function in Chennai, Arjuna described Vijay's transformation from the state's most beloved film star to a full-time administrator as dramatic, saying the Chief Minister now devotes almost the entire day to matters of governance.
"Our leader works 18 to 20 hours a day. He calls us as early as 4 in the morning and asks exactly what's happening in each department. That's the kind of Chief Minister Tamil Nadu has got," Arjuna said.
Rather than basking in the glow of his party's stunning electoral victory, Vijay has been laser-focused on how quickly the promises made to voters can be delivered, according to the minister. Arjuna said that from the very day he took charge, Vijay has functioned inside the Secretariat like a "political monk," carrying none of the arrogance that can come with power and remaining singularly devoted to public service.
The minister added that within its first 100 days, the government has already moved firmly against corruption and financial leakages, with the Chief Minister issuing specific directives to bring greater transparency to administration. While uprooting decades-old corruption at the grassroots level overnight isn't realistic, Arjuna said the government is determined to clean up the system starting from the very top.
