All poultry farms in Tamil Nadu were established using scientific methods, with cage systems, and were maintained by following biosecurity measures
Namakkal: The Tamil Nadu Poultry Farmers’ Association has said that there is no likelihood of bird flu affecting poultry farms in Tamil Nadu.
The association president and Namakkal regional National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC) president, Ponni Singaraj, said Bird flu outbreaks occurred occasionally in some parts of India and in certain countries around the world. The disease also affected some native chicken farms and birds such as crows and ducks.
However, all poultry farms in Tamil Nadu were established using scientific methods, with cage systems, and were maintained by following biosecurity measures. Therefore, there was no possibility of bird flu spreading to poultry farms in Tamil Nadu, including those in Namakkal, he said, adding that the public could consume unadulterated, protein-rich eggs without fear.
Association secretary Sundararajan, treasurer Elango, Egg Traders’ Association president Anandan, Egg Exporters’ Association secretary Valsan, and several others participated in the event.
