New TNCC Chief Starts Innings Targeting 2029 Election
Since the Congress was the first party to align itself with the TVK, both the Ministers from the party would uphold the dignity of the party, which had only one faction led by Rahul Gandhi.
Chennai: Claiming that the TVK government had done away with bribes and corruption in the State, the new TNCC president Manickam Tagore said the DMK was worried that 1.7 crore people had voted for the VCK without taking money from the party in the last elections.
Speaking to the media at the Sathyamurthy Bhavan on the first day of his office, he said the Congress was the first to extend support to the TVK by meeting the leaders even before the results were announced because the party wanted to save Tamil Nadu from falling prey to the RSS and BJP.
Since the Congress was the first party to align itself with the TVK, both the Ministers from the party would uphold the dignity of the party, which had only one faction led by Rahul Gandhi.
Earlier, soon after assuming office on Monday, Tagore said that the goal of the party was to make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister of the country by winning the 2029 Lok Sabha elections and gave a clarion call to the party leaders and workers to start building the foundation for the victory.
He said, ‘Let us unite and work together to wrest the governance of India back for the people and to make Rahul the Prime Minister,’ he said, adding that the target was to win 40 out of 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Tagore’s appointment as TNCC chief was a clear indication from the Congress high command that it was no more interested in continuing its alliance with the DMK for he had always been critical of the DMK and persistently demanding share in power.
Now that the Congress has been given two berths in the Cabinet, Tagore feels that he achieved that task, he was gearing up for the next one: To win all the 40 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.
