Chennai: Traffic was severely disrupted at the entrance to the Kilambakkam Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus on Sunday after nearly three feet of rainwater accumulated on GST Road.

The waterlogging affected vehicles entering and leaving the bus terminus. Cars and other vehicles struggled to negotiate the flooded stretch.

Motorists attributed the recurring problem to inadequate stormwater drainage connecting the area to nearby water bodies. They alleged that the absence of proper rainwater channels to carry runoff towards the lake had resulted in severe waterlogging.

Motorists urged the authorities to improve the drainage network and ensure that rainwater was channelled towards nearby water bodies to prevent similar disruptions during the northeast monsoon.
