Kanimozhi: Cops Prioritising Vijay’s Image Over Justice For Girl Victim
The police were allegedly attempting to cover up the crime against the minor girl so that it would not tarnish the image of the government and the Chief Minister, who was campaigning for his party candidate in the by-election at Madurantakam, Kanimozhi alleged.
Thoothukudi: DMK deputy general secretary and Thoothukudi MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi alleged that the Tamil Nadu police were prioritising protecting Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s image over securing justice for a class 10 girl, allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted at a government school near Vandalur.
In a post on her X page on Friday, Kanimozhi said reports that the girl was allegedly given a sedative, suffocated and sexually assaulted inside the school campus were shocking. She said the victim’s relatives had alleged that the police were attempting to dismiss the incident as fake news.

Questioning the police priority, Kanimozhi asked whether preventing any adverse impact on the Chief Minister’s campaign was considered more important than securing justice for the girl. She also questioned how the student could get justice if the police attempted to suppress the alleged incident.
