Judicial Custody Of Kavin Murder Case Accused Extended Till September 1
Court extends custody of four accused, including two suspended police sub-inspectors
The judicial custody of four accused, including two suspended police sub-inspectors, in the honour killing of 24-year-old software engineer Kavin Selvaganesh of Thoothukudi district was extended till September 1 by the Tirunelveli Second Additional District Court on Wednesday.
The case came up for hearing before Judge Hema, with CB-CID personnel producing the four accused — Surjith; his father and suspended sub-inspector K. Saravanan; his mother and suspended sub-inspector Krishnakumari; and his relative Jeyapaul — through video conference.
Though the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court granted bail to Saravanan on June 11 in the Kavin honour killing case, he was detained by the Tiruppur district police on July 20 in connection with an alleged attempt to murder a key accused and the complainant in the murder case of high court advocate Muruganantham.
The CB-CID informed the Tirunelveli court that it had moved the Madurai Bench seeking cancellation of the bail granted to Saravanan in the Kavin murder case.
Accepting the CB-CID's request to take Saravanan into custody in the Kavin case, the court extended the judicial custody of Saravanan, Surjith, Krishnakumari and Jeyapaul till September 1.
