Chennai:The Centre for Integrative Biology and Systems medicinE (IBSE), a Centre of Excellence at Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M), will organise its sixth international symposium on microbiomes from February 11 to 13, next year, on the institute’s campus.
Titled ‘Microbiomes in Environment, Health and Beyond’, the three-day symposium will bring together scientists and researchers from India and abroad to discuss microbial communities and their applications in human health, agriculture, animal husbandry, waste treatment, bioremediation and environmental health.
The discussions will focus on microbial omics across human, gut and environmental microbiomes, along with computational methods for analysing the data. Researchers will also explore the potential of modelling and engineering microbiomes to address challenges ranging from childhood malnutrition and plastic degradation to space exploration.
The symposium is being organised by Prof. Karthik Raman, coordinator of IBSE and Professor in the Department of Data Science and AI at IIT-M, and Dr. Kasthuri Venkateswaran, adjunct faculty at the institute.
The last date for early bird registration is October 31, 2026. Details are available at https://ibse.iitm.ac.in/symposium-06/
