Patteeswaram PHC

Thanjavur: The police are searching for Madhan (28) of Muzhaiyur near Patteeswaram, who assaulted and injured two persons in an inebriated mood following a quarrel with a staff nurse of a primary health centre over getting the "Thaimaman Thangamothiram" for his child.

According to the police, Vanitha, wife of Madhan, gave birth to a male child at Kumbakonam government hospital on September 16. The birth was recorded by Alamelu (35), a nurse at Patteeswaram PHC and a native of Eerakuppam in Cuddalore district.
On Friday, Madhan went to Patteeswaram PHC and demanded that his child be given the gold ring under the "Thamimaman Thangamothiram" scheme. Alamelu told him that the ring will be given on a seniority basis. Later, Madhan, after getting drunk, went to the residence of Alamelu, threw stones at her house, and quarreled, demanding that his child be given the gold ring immediately. When the relatives of Alamelu asked him to go, Madhan attacked them with a spade and escaped.
The injured were admitted to Kumbakonam government hospital. Patteeswaram police registered a case and are searching for Madhan.
