DMK Upbeat Over Poll Survey Predicting Its Win
Actually, the 45 percent vote share that the CVoter survey had forecast for the DMK-led alliance was too small a number that would be revealed by the results of the elections that were set to hand down a historic mandate to the DMK, Nehru said.
Chennai: The latest Mood of the Nation (MOTN) survey by CVoter in Tamil Nadu that forecast the INDIA coalition winning at least 38 of the total 39 Lok Sabha constituencies if elections were to be held in January has put the DMK in an upbeat mood with State Municipal Administration Minister K N Nehru stating it would happen due to the support of women.
As the survey clearly portends the return of the DMK to power, Nehru, in a statement on Friday, exulted over the party growing in popularity among women voters, as reported in the media, including the Deccan Chronicle newspaper, and said that since the State was ahead of others in implementing schemes aimed at the progress of women, it had led to naysayers spreading canards on a daily basis against the DMK government.
However, majority of the women in Tamil Nadu, unmindful of such criticism with the plethora of schemes ushering in a renaissance in their personal lives, had already taken a decision to ensure the DMK continuing in power, Nehru said, adding that the women who had benefited from the various programmes of the DMK government would enthrone the party.

Among the major measures that had earned the support of women for the party were the amendment to the women’s harassment act providing for stringent punishment and the free HPV vaccination for girls aged 9 to 14 to prevent cervical cancer, he said.
