DMK Campaign To Expose BJP’s Neglect Of Tamil Nadu to Begin on Sunday
The campaigners would interact with the public by dining with them at their homes and dispelling the misconceptions about the DMK government that were being unfairly propagated, the leaders said.
Chennai: Expressing apprehension over Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoodwinking the people by spreading lies about the State government whenever he visited the State, the DMK announced the launch of a comprehensive campaign, titled ‘Tamil Nadu will now bow its head in shame’, on Sunday with 22 star speakers covering all the 234 Assembly constituencies.
Addressing media persons at Anna Arivalayam on Saturday, DMK leaders T K S Elangovan, N Ezhilan, and Kanimozhi N V N Somu said the campaign will enunciate the DMK government’s various welfare and development schemes and achievements, besides explaining to the people the manner in which the State was being neglected by the Union BJP government.
The campaigners would interact with the public by dining with them at their homes and dispelling the misconceptions about the DMK government that were being unfairly propagated, the leaders said.
While the DMK government under M K Stalin had implemented a plethora of welfare schemes benefitting people from all walks of life, the Union Government was not only denying the due funds for the State but had also diverted the revenue that States were getting through commercial tax collected by introducing GST, they said.
Most of the schemes benefitting the people directly were being funded by the State Government since subjects like education, health, housing, food and women’s development were under the State list as per the Constitution but an Union Government had openly refused to provide the necessary funds, they alleged.
Apart from neglecting the State, the BJP was conspiring to ignite communal clashes by inciting the people, they said, adding that though the Constitution, under Article 25, provided the freedom for people to practice the religion on their choice, the BJP was trying to turn the national into a communal cauldron.
The campaign will highlight the various instances of the BJP government betraying the State and how the Prime Minister was cheating the people of the State by citing the example of the Madurai AIIMS that had not materialized despite the Prime Minister laying the foundation stone for it a long time ago.
