DMK, AIADMK Revive Spirit of Language War
CM Stalin accused the AIADMK party of falling at the feet of the BJP that was suppressing Tamil Nadu
Chennai: The DMK seeks to revive the spirit of the ‘Mozhi Por’ (Language War) that swept through the State in 1967, paving the way for the party to land in power, this year by holding special meetings on January 25, marking the anniversary of the struggle against Hindi becoming the official language by replacing English.
Chief Minister and DMK president, M K Stalin, his a letter to his party cadre on Thursday, sought to kindle the language feeling by pointing to the BJP Union government still remaining the stumbling block for the State’s growth and announced the schedule for a series of protests and agitations that would go on till the elections.
Stalin said that he would be addressing the meeting at Kanchipuram on January 25, besides paying homage at the memorial of the language martyrs, those men who laid down for protecting Tamil language while a plethora of events would be held all over the State.
Though the AIADMK, too, has announced State-wide meetings to commemorate the Mozhi Por of 1967, Stalin accused the party of falling at the feet of the BJP that was suppressing Tamil Nadu even now.
The DMK would not bow down to the machinations of the BJP government that was still making attempts to unleash Central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate, CBI, Income Tax and other investigations departments that had already been turned into its handmaidens, he said.
While the AIADMK and its offshoots had been intimidated and made to touch the feet of the BJP, the DMK having the spine to stand up against the BJP government for protecting the land, language and race without bending to the government that was keen on paralyzing it through the threats and intimidations.
Thus the DMK has emerged as a democratic army, dedicated to uphold social justice, by opposing the Fascist forces, with the youth and women of the party playing an active role in the fight, he said
