Chennai: The deletion of over 90 lakh names in the draft electoral roll published on Friday had only justified the need for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) that had now removed from the voters’ list the fake voters with whose help the DMK was planning to bend democratic norms and capture power in the State, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami said on Friday.

Reacting to the publication of the draft electoral roll on the successful completion of the enumeration process carried out under SIR, Palaniswami in a message on X said that the DMK was planning to enact dramas as their dream of using fake votes to come back to power had been shattered.

Recalling the AIADMK insisting on the revision of electoral rolls right from the beginning over fake votes, he said that its contention had been proved right by the deletion of names and urged the electors not to panic if their names were missing in the draft electoral rolls as they could enroll themselves as new voters by filling Form 6 and submitting it to the Election Commission of India.

His party’s Booth Level Agents (BLA-2) would help the people in enrolling themselves as voters, he said, congratulating his party functionaries for their diligent functioning in the SIR work and urging them to ensure if deletions had been made properly for the right reasons.

If any deletion had been made improperly, the agents should visit the voters at their homes and help them fill the forms and hand them over to the BLOs to ensure that their names figured in the final voters’ list. Similarly if fake voters remained in the list, they should make efforts for their deletion, he said.
