Couple Arrested For Defrauding Rs. 1 Crore Promising High Returns In Real Estate Business
James gave the couple about Rs. one crore to invest in the business. But, the couple went absconding after some time. James filed a complaint to the Greater Chennai Commissionerate.
Chennai: A couple who were absconding for ten years in a case of defrauding about Rs. one crore from people by promising them high returns in real estate business.
According to the complaint given by James (45) living in Palavanthangal, his wife’s school friend Karpagam introduced her sister Rajalakshmi (41). Rajalakshmi and her husband Dharani (49) said they are running a real estate business which brings huge profits. They also asked James and his wife to invest in the business to get high returns.
James gave the couple about Rs. one crore to invest in the business. But, the couple went absconding after some time. James filed a complaint to the Greater Chennai Commissionerate. The case was entrusted to Economic Offences Wing inspector L. Sarojini who carried out an investigation and arrested the accused Rajalakshmi and Dharani.
