CMWSSB MD Inspects KK Nagar,Ashok Nagar Facilities

CHENNAI: Chennai Metropolitan Wate Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB)Managing Director T. Anand on Tuesday inspected the functioning of the KK Nagar water distribution station in Ward 136 and the Ashok Nagar sewage pumping station in Ward 135 in the city.
The KK Nagar facility, one of the major water distribution stations in the city, has a capacity to distribute 45 million litres of drinking water a day. It supplies water to KK Nagar, Jai Balaji Nagar, MGR Nagar, Ekkatuthangal, parts of West Mambalam, Ashok Nagar, Jafferkhanpet and Saidapet, benefiting around 4.66 lakh residents.
With northeast monsoon approaching, Anand directed officials to undertake proper maintenance of sewage infrastructure and ensure that blockages, breaks or leaks in sewage pipelines are detected and rectified promptly.
Earlier, the Managing Director inspected the Ashok Nagar sewage pumping station, which has the capacity to handle 10 million litres of sewage a day. Sewage generated in Ashok Nagar and West Mambalam is pumped through 100 HP and 45 HP pumps into collection wells and subsequently conveyed to the Nesapakkam sewage treatment plant through the designated network.
Chief Engineer A. Radhakrishnan, Superintending Engineer S.P. Jayaprakash, Area Engineer R. Vijaykumar and other officials accompanied him during the inspection.
