CM Vijay Orders 5 Film Shows For New Releases

CHENNAI: Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay ordered for permission to be granted to movie theatres to hold five shows a day in the first seven days of the film’s release in theatres as part of a few relaxations in the rules concerning film screening.
Hitherto, theatres were allowed to have only four shows a day with a provision to have an additional screening, by obtaining permission from the authorities concerned, on the occasion of local festivals and public holidays.
Now the Chief Minister had allowed for five shows without getting special permission on the occasion of local festivals, public holidays, Saturdays and Sundays, an official press release said on Monday.
The relaxation given for film shows was prompted by the demand placed by film industry leaders who called on the Chief Minister at the Secretariat on May 16. The film personalities had presented a charter of demands and one of them related to the increase in daily screenings.
