CM Vijay Likely to Meet Karur Stampede Victims' Families in July

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay is likely to visit the families of those who died in the stampede that happened during a TVK rally in Karur in On 27 September 2025, local reports say. The visit is most likely to take place during the second week of July.
41 lost their lives during the stampede, one of the most challenging events in Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam's history. The incident triggered widespread outrage across the State, and drawn criticism from opposing leaders for lack of security measures. The case is currently under investigation by the CBI.
Following the tragedy, Vijay, who was only TVK president at the time, had announced financial assistance of Rs 20 lakh each to the families of the deceased. The amount was deposited directly into their bank accounts.
While the CBI investigation was paused owing to the Tamil Nadu Assembly election, it has been resumed on June 11.
Summons have been issued to 10 individuals while four police personnels have already appeared before the agency for questioning.
