CHENNAI: Chief Minister M K Stalin lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for claiming that the State was with the NDA and had decided to bid farewell to the corrupt DMK government by firing a fusillade of questions, listing them as ‘betrayals of NDA,’ and said that those continuous betrayals would only bring defeat to the BJP alliance in the State.

Ahead of his arrival at Madurantakam on Friday to launch the NDA’s campaign for the Assembly election, Modi put out a social media message that NDA’s governance record and commitment to regional aspirations were striking a chord with the people of Tamil Nadu, prompting the Chief Minister to ask when the State would receive the Rs 3,458 crore funds for the Samagra Siksha education scheme.

Accusing the Prime Minister of visiting Tamil Nadu only during the election season, he asked him when he would give his assurance on addressing the slew of grievances raised by the State like putting an end to the lawlessness of Governor R N Ravi, who had been acting as the BJP’s agent, and on the construction of the AIIMS in Madurai.

Work on the AIIMS project was progressing ‘inch by inch’ for the past 10 years, he said and wanted to know when that ‘eighth wonder of the world’ would become a reality. The other projects that he flagged with the query on when they would see the light of the day were the Hosur airport, Metro Rail for Coimbatore and Madurai and the report on Keeladi archeological excavations.

Stalin asked Modi when an assurance would come from him on not reducing Tamil Nadu’s electoral constituencies following the delimitation process, when the funds for development of Tamil would be released by the Union Government that had been claiming to love the language more than the Tamil people and when the State would be granted exemption from NEET.

Other demands on which he wanted the Prime Minister to come out with a timeframe were a promise on the continuation of the MGNREGA and the abandonment of VBGRAMG and the release of relief sought by the State for mitigation of sufferings caused by natural disasters.
