CM Inspects Progress Of Metro Rail Projects

Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay reviewed ongoing Metro Rail works, inspected key facilities and experienced the unattended train operation system during a trial run.

Riding the Metro Rail from Government Estates station to Nandanam, Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay started his elaborate inspection of the various projects of the Metro Rail on Wednesday and personally checked out the Unattended Train Operation System by travelling a train that was on a trial run without a motorman from Porur Bypass to Poonamallee Bypass stations.

According to an official press release, Vijay also inspected the ongoing work on the setting up the Balanced Cantilever Bridge at Kathipara that was being constructed without any supporting pillars rising from the ground in the phase 2 of the project’s route five between Madhavaram and Sholinganallur.

At Nandanam, he paid a visit to MetroS, the headquarters of the Metro Rail and inspected the Operation Control Centre, from where the movement of trains are being monitored.

The Chief Minister evinced interest in finding about the last mile connectivity for commuters using the Metro Rail services, enquiring about the transport facilities available now and also explored the possibility for future expansion of the project by holding discussions with the officials.

He also inspected the preparatory work on the new routes that were being planned by Metro Rail and also visited the construction activities that are going on in connection with the implementation of the project.
