Chargesheet In Veeramani Case In 3 Weeks, Police Tells HC
Police arrested Veeramani on August 29 following a complaint of sexual assault of a minor girl by a Child Rights activist on October 6.
Chennai:Tamil Nadu police on Monday told the Madras High Court that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the Pocso cases against industrialist R. Veeramani would file the charge sheet in three weeks.
State Public Prosecutor R. John Sathyan made the submission when the SIT filed its second status report before Justice V. Lakshminarayanan in the case providing the details of the progress in the case. After perusing the report, the judge directed the Registrar to keep the first and second status reports in safe custody so that the details of the investigation are not leaked out even before the police could complete the investigation and file the chargesheet.
The first status report was filed before the judge on October 7 about the investigation conducted by the police. The court gave further time to file another report since many more victims were coming forward to lodge complaints.
