Police on Thursday shot dead Manikandan, the main accused in Tuesday night’s murder of Special Sub-Inspector Shanmugavel at Gudimangalam village in Tiruppur district.
Police said Manikandan was shot at in “self defence” when he attempted to escape after stabbing a Sub-Inspector while being taken to the scene of crime.
