Satheesan Meets the Gandhis, Kharge, in maiden Delhi trip as Kerala CM
Kerala's new Chief Minister VD Satheesan, who arrived in Delhi late last night, was accorded a warm reception by party workers and leaders.
New Delhi: Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan on Saturday met senior Congress leaders in the national capital during his first visit to New Delhi after assuming office.
Satheesan met Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra at their 10-Janpath residence.
Earlier on Saturday, the newly appointed Kerala CM called on Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and AICC general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal at their Delhi residences.
The Chief Minister, who arrived in Delhi late last night, was accorded a warm reception by party workers and leaders.
Congress sources said the organisational matters and issues related to the new UDF government in Kerala were addressed in their discussion.
The visit also happened amid discussions within the party over the selection of a new Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president, sources added.
The Congress-led UDF had registered a historic victory in the recent Kerala Assembly elections, returning to power in the state after a gap of a decade.
