Kerala Orders Probe Into Egg-Hurling at KSRTC Bus in Karnataka, Suspects Sabotage

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Transport Minister C P John on Thursday ordered a comprehensive probe into an incident in which unidentified persons allegedly hurled eggs at a KSRTC bus in Karnataka, suspecting sabotage, officials said.
The incident occurred at around 9 pm on August 12 at Viduthi, when the Deluxe bus operated by the KSRTC's Kasaragod unit was travelling from Bengaluru to Kasaragod.
According to a statement, the eggs hit the bus's front windshield, obstructing the driver's vision and creating a dangerous situation that could have led to an accident.
The minister directed the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation to conduct an urgent inquiry into whether the incident was an attempt to obstruct the bus or cause an accident.
The incident has raised concern as another KSRTC bus overturned in the same area, about two km away, on August 8, killing two employees and injuring passengers.
The occurrence of similar incidents in the area within a few days has raised suspicion of possible sabotage, the statement said. Media reports had also raised the possibility of a conspiracy behind the incidents.
Following the minister's directive, the KSRTC has launched a comprehensive probe into the bus's route, the location of the incident and similar incidents reported in the area in recent times, it said.
The KSRTC said all necessary precautions would be taken to ensure the safety of passengers and employees and that strict legal action would be initiated if sabotage was established.
