Thiruvananthapuram: In a tragic incident, a 42-year-old man lost his life after being struck by a lorry while attempting to rescue a cat trapped in the road in Mannuthy, Thrissur district, Kerala.

The victim, identified as Sijo, was known for his love of animals. The incident took place when he stopped his motorcycle to help a cat that was stuck in the middle of a busy road. CCTV footage revealed that he attempted to signal the lorry to stop, but the loaded vehicle struck him as the cat managed to cross to the other side.

Sijo sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, he could not be saved.

Residing in Kalathode, Sijo was a devoted animal lover, reportedly caring for at least three cats and five dogs at his home. He was also known for regularly feeding stray dogs in the area.

The Mannuthy police have registered a case regarding the incident and have begun an investigation.
