 Thiruvananthapuram: The state health department has initiated a probe on Thursday after two patients, Ramachandran, 59, from Haripad, and Majeed, 52, from Kayamkulam, died following dialysis at the Taluk Hospital in Haripad, Alappuzha district.

Both were among 27 patients who underwent dialysis on December 29. Hospital officials said their blood tests showed elevated counts, indicating infection. Ramachandran experienced vomiting and chills during dialysis, was kept under observation, then referred to the medical college, but was shifted to a private hospital due to a lack of ICU beds.
