Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Forest Development Corporation (KFDC) will sell tea and coffee sourced from its own plantations under a new brand, 'Atma', the government said on Sunday.

Products under the new brand will be available in the market from next month, Kerala Forest Development Corporation Mananthavady Divisional Manager Sajeer K V said in a release.

Forest Minister Shibu Baby John had invited suggestions on social media for a name for the new brand. Following further discussions and consultations with experts, 'Atma' was finalised as the brand name, the release said.

KFDC currently markets its products under the 'Vanopahar' brand, with 'Atma' to be introduced as a new brand for its tea and coffee products.

KFDC already sells unblended coffee powder, but this will be the first time it is introducing tea to the market, the release said.

"Atma brand tea is produced at KFDC's own plantation in Mananthavady, while the coffee is sourced from its plantations in Nelliyampathy, Munnar and Gavi," it said.
