Chief Minister Pinrayi Vijayan said the passing of Sreenivasan is an irreplaceable loss for Malayalam cinema: Reports
Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan:
Chief Minister Pinrayi Vijayan said the passing of Sreenivasan is an irreplaceable loss for Malayalam cinema. A remarkable talent who excelled in every aspect of filmmaking is now gone. Few filmmakers have managed to portray the essence of the common man on the silver screen, engaging audiences with humor and thought-provoking moments. Sreenivasan made his mark by breaking many long-standing stereotypes in cinema.
Opposition Leader V D Satheeshan:
Sreenivasan wasn’t just cinema—he was life itself. Redefined heroes, spoke uncomfortable truths, made us laugh, think, and feel. A rare genius, a humane soul, a timeless legacy. Farewell, Sreeniyetta.
Rajinikanth:
Superstar Rajinikanth paid a heartfelt tribute to Sreenivasan, describing him as “an excellent actor and a very good human being.” He said, “I am shocked to hear that my dear friend Sreenivasan has passed away. We were classmates at the Film Institute, and he was truly an outstanding actor and a wonderful person. May his soul rest in peace.”
Mammootty:
Actor Mammootty expressed his deep condolences on Sreenivasan's death. Sreenivasan was an exceptional talent as an actor, screenwriter, and director, and his contribution to Malayalam cinema will be remembered forever. The actor said Sreenivasan had a profound impact on his life and career, and they worked together in the Malayalam film industry for many years.
Mohanlal:
Actor Mohanlal expressed deep sorrow over losing Sreenivasan, describing him as someone who had a unique perspective on cinema and life. He shared that he recently tried to visit him but couldn’t, as Sreenivasan was in the ICU following leg surgery. Mohanlal emphasized that their bond went beyond acting, shaped by many emotional moments and a strong connection to his life and family.
Priyadarshan:
Director Priyadarshan said that Sreenivasan only needed human hearts to find his stories, and that no one else could laugh at himself the way Sreenivasan did. We entered the world of cinema together with shared dreams. Most of our bond grew outside the sets, through countless days and nights of story discussions, moments of harmony, and even quarrels. The kindness he carried in his thoughts and actions was truly his hallmark. Farewell to my soulmate who gave me cinema and taught me its lessons, Priyadarshan wrote.
Kamal Hassan:
Kamal Hassan said some artists entertain, some enlighten, some provoke. #Sreenivasan did it all, with a smile that carried truth and a laugh that carried responsibility. My respects to a remarkable mind. Deepest condolences to his family and admirers.
Shashi Tharoor:
Shashi Tharoor MP wrote that Malayalam cinema will never be the same without the brilliance of #Sreenivasan. From the sharp satire of “Sandesham” to the heartfelt emotion of “Vadakkunokkiyantram,” he showed us how to laugh at ourselves while provoking deeper thought. A true master of his craft, he redefined what it means to be a “hero” on screen and also proved himself a talented director.
