THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Hundreds of people lined up on either side of the main road to greet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a brief roadshow in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.
The prime minister stood on the footboard, waving at the crowd as the vehicle moved along, while people showered flowers. Security personnel from Thiruvananthapuram ran alongside the vehicle.
Smiling broadly, Modi waved continuously amid chants of “Modi, Modi” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.” Many had gathered along the Overbridge–East Fort stretch nearly four hours before the event began. People were thrilled to see the prime minister up close.
“I didn’t go to school today, just came here to catch a glimpse of Modi ji. I’m happy,” said a school student. “After Thiruvananthapuram, we are confident Modi ji’s development agenda will bring us to power in Kerala,” said Sadashivan.
About 25,000 BJP workers drawn from Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts gathered at Putharikandam maidan for the PM event.
Earlier in a separate official event, the Prime Minister flagged off four new trains, including three Amrit Bharat Express and one passenger train, and launched several development projects in Thiruvananthapuram.
