THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: RMP leader K K Rema reacted emotionally as vote counting progressed in her Vadakara constituency.
“The past six rounds, enough Kerala! Enough of this. Chandrasekharan would have seen the man who shouted ‘Kulamkuthi’ (Traitor) and called for his killing, standing naked in the scorching sun. Greetings to political Kerala,” wrote K K Rema in a Facebook post, sharing an old photo with her slain husband, T P Chandrasekharan.
Chandrasekharan was brutally murdered by a gang of political criminals on May 4, 2012, 14 years ago. Among those convicted in the case were a few CPM leaders.
Pinarayi Vijayan, who was the CPM state secretary at the time, said that despite being brutally murdered, Chandrasekharan would always be considered a "traitor." When a reporter asked if he still regarded Chandrasekharan as a traitor, he replied, "Once a traitor, always a traitor."
“Kerala has given a befitting reply to the 51 cuts inflicted on Chandrasekharan’s body by the murderers,” she told reporters.
In her post, Rema indirectly referred to Pinarayi Vijayan, who was trailing in the first six rounds of counting in Dharmadam. However, after seven rounds, Vijayan had taken a lead of 1,536 votes.
