YouTuber Sameer Gets Anticipatory Bail
The 23-minute video, allegedly created using artificial intelligence (AI), was uploaded on Sameer’s YouTube channel.
Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada Principal District and Sessions Court on Thursday granted anticipatory bail to YouTuber MD Sameer in connection with a case relating to the alleged circulation of a fake video concerning the complaint of secret burials in Dharmasthala.
The 23-minute video, allegedly created using artificial intelligence (AI), was uploaded on Sameer’s YouTube channel. Police said the video contained “false and misleading” information about the complainant-witness and the case, and was circulated with the alleged intent of provoking public unrest.
In this connection, a case was registered on July 12 at the Dharmasthala police station under sections 192, 240, and 353(1)(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
While granting bail, the court directed Sameer not to repeat such offences and to refrain from tampering with prosecution witnesses through threats or inducement. He was also instructed to make himself available to the investigating officer whenever required.
