Bidar: In a boost to rail connectivity for Bidar district, the Yeshwantpur–Bidar–Yeshwantpur Express (16577/78) has resumed operations after a period of suspension.
The train will now operate twice a week—departing from Yeshwantpur (Bengaluru) to Bidar every Saturday and making the return journey from Bidar to Bengaluru on Sundays, according to a press statement.
The resumption follows efforts by Bidar MP Sagar Khandre.
Khandre had taken up the matter with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, submitting a formal request and following it up during the recent Parliament session.
The revival of the service is expected to benefit residents of the district by improving access to Bengaluru, the state capital, and easing long-distance travel for regular commuters.
