Wild Elephant Kills Elderly Man During Morning Walk in Bengaluru
The victim, identified as Nagaraj, was walking with his daughter at around 5.30 am when the elephant approached them and attacked him.
Bengaluru: A 60-year-old man was killed after being attacked by a wild elephant while out on his morning walk in Bengaluru outskirts on Monday morning.
According to police, the incident took place at Anchepalya, near Rajarajeshwari Hospital on Mysore Road.
The victim, identified as Nagaraj, was walking with his daughter at around 5.30 am when the elephant approached them and attacked him.
He was rushed to RR Medical College on Mysore Road by local residents but succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment, they said.
"Nagaraj, who had gone out for a morning walk at around 5.30 am, was attacked by a wild elephant. He was shifted to hospital by local residents but succumbed to his injuries during treatment."
The incident occurred within the Kaggalipura forest range, and the elephant is suspected to have come from the Bannerghatta area, the sources said.
Forest Department officials have visited the spot and launched a search operation to locate and capture the elephant, they said.
Nagaraj, who lived with his wife and four daughters, was reportedly working as a daily-wage labourer, according to the information available.
The incident has caused concern among residents of the area, which has thousands of houses and witnesses considerable movement of people during the early morning hours.
