University Of Liverpool To Open Its First Overseas Campus In Bengaluru By 2026

When the University of Liverpool campus begins its functioning, the campus will offer an initial set of programmes in Business Management, Accounting and Finance, Computer Science, Biomedical Sciences and Game Design.

BENGALURU: The officials of University of Liverpool, part of United Kingdom’s prestigious Russell Group, on Tuesday announced its intent to open its campus in Bengaluru city by 2026 and it would be University of Liverpool’s first overseas campus.

When the University of Liverpool campus begins its functioning, the campus will offer an initial set of programmes in Business Management, Accounting and Finance, Computer Science, Biomedical Sciences and Game Design. A broader portfolio of disciplines is expected to be added in a phased manner.

At an event in Bengaluru on Tuesday, assuring necessary support for the Liverpool varsity officials, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said “We welcome them wholeheartedly and are committed to extending all support to make this venture a grand success.”

He termed Karnataka has always been at the forefront of education and innovation and the decision of the University of Liverpool to set up its first foreign campus in Bengaluru city reinforces the status of Bengaluru as a global knowledge destination.

Professor Tim Jones, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Liverpool, said “A significant step in our long standing relationship with India by opening a world class campus in Bengaluru.” Continuing, Tim Jones said “The state of Karnataka’s reputation as a knowledge and technology powerhouse makes it an ideal home for the University’s first global campus.”

Tim Jones assured to deliver transformative education and research in partnership with local communities, institutions and industries.

Minister of Large Scale Industries and Infrastructure M.B. Patil said the collaboration with University of Liverpool will drive deeper ties between academia and sectors such as electronics, aerospace and biotechnology through joint research, internships and curriculum design. Patil sated “It’s a strategic alliance to co-create the industries and talent of the future.”

British Deputy High Commissioner in Bengaluru Chandru Iyer said “The announcement of Liverpool University to open its campus in Bengaluru is both evidence and a celebration of the United Kingdom-India partnership.”
