Udupi: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Udupi Sri Krishna Math on Friday, the Udupi District Police have issued extensive traffic restrictions and strict guidelines for participants attending the roadshow and the Laksha Kantha Geetotsava.

For the Geetotsava, entry will be permitted only to those carrying authorised passes. Attendees must reach the venue by 9.30 am, after which entry will be closed. Water bottles, bags, flower bouquets, souvenirs, cameras, boxes, sharp objects, knives, inflammable materials, drones, explosives, laser lights and flagpoles are prohibited. Mandatory security screening has been enforced, and climbing nearby buildings has been strictly banned. The police have urged the public to prioritise senior citizens, children and women, and report any suspicious activity. Food arrangements and priority queues have been organised at the Vidyodaya School Ground.

Strict protocols are in place for the roadshow as well. Visitors must reach designated viewing points by 10.30 am. Crossing barricades is banned, and the same restrictions on bags, bottles, cameras, drones and other items will apply. The police have advised people not to climb buildings, avoid bringing children below three years and cooperate with security personnel. They also cautioned against pushing, crowding or creating panic.

Traffic diversions will be enforced from 11 am until the completion of the Prime Minister’s programme.
Vehicle movement will be completely prohibited along the roadshow route. Light vehicles travelling from Mangaluru towards Kundapur will be diverted through Udyavara–Malpe–Kodavoor–Aashirwad Junction, while those coming from Kundapur towards Mangaluru must take the Ambagilu–Perampalli–Manipal–Rampur–Alevoor–Katapady stretch. Vehicles from Malpe heading to Mangaluru may use the Kalmadi–Kidiyoor–Kadekar–Udyavara route or the Padukere–Mattu–Kaup coastal road. Heavy vehicles from Mangaluru and Kundapur will be stopped at Katapady and Santhekatte respectively and must remain on service roads.

Designated parking arrangements have been made for those arriving for the events. Vehicles from Kundapur for the roadshow must drop passengers near Nittur or Rasika Bar and park at the Silas School Ground or MGM Ground. Geetotsava attendees should park at MGM Ground via the Ambagilu–Doddangudde route. Vehicles from Hebri and Hiriyadka will be routed via Manipal to Beedanagudde Stadium, while those from Karkala or Moodubelle must use the Alevoor–Kukkikatte stretch to park at the Beedinagudde Exhibition Ground. Visitors from Mangaluru should use the Bailoor Mudanna Estate Ground, and those from Malpe should park at Shamili Ground.

The police have urged the public to follow all instructions, avoid rumours and depend only on official announcements issued by the police or district administration.
