Udupi: Man Kills Parents With Hammer, Calls 112 And Confesses

Udupi: A 31-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly killed his parents by hitting them on the head with a hammer at Baikadi village in Brahmavar taluk, police said on Monday.
The incident came to light after the accused, Shahid Ali, called the 112 emergency helpline at around 9 am on Monday and allegedly told the police that he had killed his parents the previous evening.
Shahid, son of Mehboob Ali, reportedly told the police that he killed his father and mother around 7 pm on Sunday as they had allegedly been subjecting him to mental harassment daily.
Following the call, a police team rushed to the family’s house at Gandhinagar in Baikadi village. The police found Mehboob Ali (55) and his wife Shamshad Begum (50) dead at the spot.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Shahid had allegedly attacked both of them on the head with a hammer, resulting in their deaths.
Shahid was arrested. The Brahmavar police have registered a case under Crime No. 161/2026 under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are investigating the incident.
