Two Pune Women Killed As Lorry Rams Car At Arbail Ghat
According to the complaint the two women were travelling in a car. They had left Hosapete in the morning and, after visiting tourist places in Badami, were proceeding towards Gokarna. Karwar: Two women from Pune were killed after a lorry allegedly rammed into the car in which they were travelling at Arbail Ghat in Yellapur taluk.
The deceased have been identified as Mrunmai Rajan Kulthe (32) and Sharmila Rajan Kulthe (59), residents of Hadapsar in Pune, Maharashtra. The incident occurred on Sunday late evening.
According to the complaint the two women were travelling in a car. They had left Hosapete in the morning and, after visiting tourist places in Badami, were proceeding towards Gokarna.
The accident occurred near Arbail Ghat, about 55 km from Gokarna, between 7 pm and 7.30 pm, when a lorry, travelling from Yellapur towards Ankola, allegedly came from behind at high speed and rammed into their car.
The impact pushed the car forward and it came into contact with another lorry, which was travelling ahead.
The driver and the two women were injured in the accident. Local residents alerted an ambulance and the injured were shifted to Yellapur Government Hospital. However, doctors examined the two women and declared them dead.
Yellapur police have taken up the case based on the driver's complaint and are proceeding against the driver of the lorry for allegedly driving rashly and negligently and causing the fatal accident.
