BENGALURU: Three passengers were detained by Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Monday after they allegedly manhandled a RPF person at Yeshwanthpur railway station in Bengaluru city when the personnel went to find out the cause of an alarm chain pulling case.

An RPF person came across an alarm chain pulling at coach S3 of train number 17309 (Yeshwanthpur-Vasco da Gama Express) incident at Yeshwanthpur railway station and he went to investigate what led to alarm chain pulling causing halting of the train at unscheduled stop.

When he entered the coach to question passengers, a group objected to the RPF person questioning the passengers. The objection by a group of passengers led to an altercation and irate passengers took on the RPF person to manhandle him. Later, additional security personnel were rushed to the spot and the situation was brought under control.

The three passengers detained were said to be in inebriated condition and Divisional Railway Manager stated “Necessary legal action has been initiated against them.”
