Three Of Family Found Dead In Gangavathi
The complaint states that the Prashanth Nagar house had been sold to one Jantakal Nagaraj. Nagaraj had allegedly availed a loan from Manvi Pattana Sahakari Bank by mortgaging the property, with Prakash standing as guarantor.
Koppal: A jeweller, his wife and their 19-year-old son were found dead inside a house in Gangavathi on Saturday morning. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation.
The deceased were identified as Prakash Raikar (55), proprietor of a Jewellery shop, his wife Prabhavati (46), and their son Shashank (19), a college student.
According to the complaint lodged by Prakash's younger brother, Raghavendra Raikar, the family had been living in a rented house near Matti Hospital after shifting from their house in Prashanth Nagar earlier this year.
The complaint states that the Prashanth Nagar house had been sold to one Jantakal Nagaraj. Nagaraj had allegedly availed a loan from Manvi Pattana Sahakari Bank by mortgaging the property, with Prakash standing as guarantor. After Nagaraj reportedly defaulted on the loan, the bank took possession of the house in February.
The complaint stated that Raghavendra received a call around 9 am from Prabhavati's brother, Ashok Shet, who told him that Prabhavati had sent a WhatsApp message around 8.20 am but was not answering subsequent calls. He requested Raghavendra to check on the family.
Raghavendra first went to the rented house near Matti Hospital, but found it locked. He then went to the family's old house in Prashanth Nagar around 10 am. While the front door was locked, the rear door was open. Looking inside through the rear entrance, he found the three hanging inside the house.
He alerted Prabhavati's relatives, members of the community and the police.
Since the bank had taken possession of the property, its manager was called to the spot.
No suicide note or any suspicious material was found at the scene.
Based on Raghavendra's complaint, Gangavathi Town Police registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and began an investigation.
