SIT Widens Search Near Bahubali Betta, Finds Nothing
‘V’ pointed the spot to the team which began excavations and found nothing: Report
MANGALURU: The special investigation team drew a blank at Point 16 and a nearby spot near Bahubali Betta in its search for alleged secret burials in Dharmasthala, on Saturday. The team was accompanied by the whistleblower, whom Deccan Chronicle is identifying as ‘V’.
‘V’ pointed the spot to the team which began excavations and found nothing. They widened the search to the spot at the nearby Bahubali Betta but in vain. The operation was called off around 7.15 pm.
The search began on July 29, with human remains reportedly found at two sites — spot number 6 and beneath a tree near spot number 11. The remains have been sent for forensic examination.
The SIT was formed by the state government following a July 3 complaint from a former sanitation worker, who alleged that several bodies had been secretly buried in Dharmasthala village. Based on the complaint, the SIT inspected the area and identified 13 locations for excavation.
