Rising Rivers Inundate Bridges, Fields in Belagavi District
The Krishna river swelled following heavy inflows, submerging the Kuduchi–Ugarkhurd bridge in Raibag taluk. Police officials erected barricades to stop movement on this route.
Belagavi: Heavy rainfall in the Western Ghats and upstream catchments in neighbouring Maharashtra has pushed all the rivers in Belagavi district close to or above danger levels, inundating bridges, roads and agricultural fields, while rain-related incidents were also reported from the nearby Uttara Kannada district.
The Markandeya river was flowing in the danger mark, leading to flooding in low-lying agricultural lands near Kangrali and causing damage to standing crops. Rising water levels in the Malaprabha river submerged the bridge on the Khanapura–Manturga road, disrupting traffic.

The Doodhganga river witnessed a sharp rise in its water level, resulting in flooding near the dargah at Mullanki in Chikkodi taluk.
Meanwhile, in Uttara Kannada district the wall of a house collapsed at Masidigalli amid the continuing heavy rain.
Officials are closely monitoring river levels and have advised people living in vulnerable areas to remain alert as rainfall is expected to continue. Teams have been kept ready as a precautionary measure.
