Yadgir: Authorities have clarified that contaminated drinking water was not the cause of death of three residents in Tippanatagi village of Surpur taluk, Yadgir district, contrary to initial belief that raised concerns of waterborne illness.

Reports had initially suggested that the deaths were linked to consumption of polluted water in the village, which comes under the Malgatti Gram Panchayat. But Yadgir Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Lavish Ordia said a detailed investigation found that all three individuals had been suffering from serious pre-existing health conditions.
“The health department’s report has confirmed that the deaths were not caused by water contamination. No other family members have shown symptoms of illness related to drinking water,” he said in an official statement.
Water samples from all sources supplying the village were collected and tested for physical, biological, and chemical quality. “The results show that the water is safe for drinking,” Ordia added.
Authorities have set up a health camp in the village and have taken all precautionary measures to safeguard public health.
