Pakistani Nationals Sent Back Except Those Who Moved Court: Karnataka CM
CM says state is on alert and has taken security measures; some residents challenged deportation in Mysuru court
Responding to accusations by BJP leaders that the state government had not initiated steps to send back Pakistani nationals residing in Karnataka despite the Centre’s directions, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday said some Pakistan nationals residing in Mysuru had moved court against deportation. Except in such cases, most other Pakistan nationals had been sent back to their country.
The Chief Minister said he did not immediately have the details on the number of persons who had been sent back to Pakistan from Karnataka Speaking in Mandya, Siddaramaiah said that as a precautionary measure, the state government had initiated all security measures as, according to him, “Anything could happen any moment.”
“An alert has been sounded across the state,” he said, and stated minister Ramalinga Reddy had discussed with him the prospect of the government conducting pujas to invoke blessings to protect soldiers in ongoing strikes on terrorist hideouts in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and in Pakistan.
