Mysuru DC Invites Gavisiddeshwara Swamiji to Inaugurate Dasara

Koppal: Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Lakshmikanth Reddy G on Sunday visited Gavimath in Koppal and invited Abhinava Gavisiddheshwara Swamiji to inaugurate the Mysuru Dasara celebrations scheduled for October 11.
The Karnataka government had recently decided to have Gavisiddeshwara Swamiji inaugurate this year’s Dasara celebrations.
Reddy, who is also the special officer for the Dasara festival, arrived at the mutt along with members of the festival reception committee. He was accompanied by Koppal Deputy Commissioner Dr Suresh Itnal and Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr Varnith Negi.
The delegation met Gavisiddheshwara Swamiji and handed over the formal invitation on behalf of the Dasara reception committee, requesting him to attend the event and inaugurate the 2026 Dasara celebrations.
Gavisiddeshwara Swamiji invited the visiting officials for prasada at the mutt. Reddy and Yukesh Kumar later had prasada along with Koppal DC Suresh Itnal and ZP CEO Varnith Negi.
Following the meal, Reddy and Yukesh Kumar climbed the hill at the mutt and had darshan at the Karthru Gadde.
The officials were shown photographs of the Gavisiddeshwara Jatre, which draws a large number of devotees and is often referred to as the Kumbh Mela of South India because of its scale and religious significance.
Koppal DC Suresh Itnal briefed Reddy about the annual jatre and its traditions, including the practice of devotees arriving in large numbers with grains and other agricultural produce.
The Mysuru delegation included Mysuru Zilla Panchayat CEO Yukesh Kumar, Sri Chamundeshwari Hill Development Authority Secretary MJ Roopa and Deputy Secretary M Basavaraj.
