Minister of Rural Development, Panchayat Raj, and IT, Priyank Kharge, on Tuesday said he has been receiving threat calls, including some from international numbers, in both Hindi and English. Kharge, suspecting involvement of RSS and BJP functionaries, stated, “We are used to it. This is not happening for the first time to us.”

In a letter dated October [insert date] to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Kharge requested steps to prohibit RSS activities on government premises such as schools, grounds, and temples. He accused the RSS of promoting an ideology that aims to create societal divisions and said banning its activities was in the public interest.

Kharge suggested that RSS functionaries might be irritated by his stance and questions challenging their ideology. He asked, “If RSS ideology is so good, why aren’t BJP leaders’ children or their close kin consuming cow urine, becoming cow protectors, or safeguarding dharm (Hindu faith)?”

He further questioned the selective application of RSS philosophy, saying, “Why is RSS philosophy only meant for the poor and not for children of BJP stalwarts?”

Despite the threats, the minister affirmed that he remains undeterred in his calls for accountability and transparency regarding RSS activities on government properties.
