Belagavi: Public Works Department Minister Satish Jarkiholi on Wednesday defended the actions of Belagavi Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Roshan, saying the officer had acted lawfully and had not committed any breach of privilege, amid a submission to the Lok Sabha Speaker by a Maharashtra MP.

He also sought all the MPs of Karnataka to raise their voice in this issue.

Speaking to reporters in the city, Jarkiholi said Maharashtra MP Dhairyasheel Mane had submitted a complaint to the Lok Sabha Speaker, alleging breach of privilege after Belagavi Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan did not allow him to enter Belagavi.

The minister added that so far no notice had been received in this regard and no committee had been constituted. “Once a notice is issued, we will respond and fight the matter legally. All MPs from the state should raise their voice on this issue,” he said.

“Our stand is that the Deputy Commissioner has not committed any breach of privilege and his actions are within the framework of the law,” he said.
