Inspector Somasekhar G.C. of the Mangaluru East Police Station has been placed under suspension with immediate effect for failing to take legal action against M/s Hireglow Elegant Overseas International Pvt. Ltd. despite receiving prior complaints and instructions.
Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Police has suspended two of its officers for serious lapses in investigating a major overseas job fraud case, in which several aspirants were duped of over Rs 1.82 crore.
Inspector Somasekhar G.C. of the Mangaluru East Police Station has been placed under suspension with immediate effect for failing to take legal action against M/s Hireglow Elegant Overseas International Pvt. Ltd. despite receiving prior complaints and instructions. According to officials, his inaction and lack of supervisory oversight allowed the accused to continue defrauding job seekers under the guise of foreign employment opportunities.
PSI Umesh Kumar M.N., currently posted at Barke Police Station and the former investigating officer in the case at Mangaluru East, has also been suspended. He has been pulled up for multiple procedural failures, including not arresting the accused, not collecting key evidence, failing to record statements from victims and witnesses, and neglecting to pursue financial leads. These oversights, officials said, severely compromised the investigation.
In a press statement City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal confirmed that both officers were found to be negligent, irresponsible, and in breach of duty. "Departmental disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against them," he added.
