Mangaluru Police Destroy Drugs Worth ₹82 Crore

 Mangaluru City Police destroyed narcotic substances worth nearly Rs 82 crore on Wednesday as part of the disposal of contraband seized in cases registered over the past few years.

The destroyed stock included 450 kg of ganja, 43.26 kg of MDMA, 80 grams of charas, 880 grams of hydro weed and 1.2 kg of bhang. They were seized in 59 NDPS cases registered across 16 police stations under the Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate.

A significant portion of the destroyed contraband came from a few major seizures. These included 37 kg of MDMA worth around Rs 75 crore recovered in a 2024 case registered at the Mangaluru East Police Station, about 4 kg of MDMA valued at Rs 4.47 crore seized in a 2025 Mulki Police Station case, 106 kg of ganja worth around Rs 20 lakh seized by Konaje Police, and 111 kg of ganja valued at about Rs 36 lakh recovered in a Moodbidri Police Station case.

The destruction was carried out at Ramky Energy and Environment Ltd (Re Sustainability Healthcare Solutions Ltd.) in the Kolnad Industrial Area near Mulki, about 25 km from Manglauru, after obtaining permission from the court. The narcotics were disposed of using scientific and environment-friendly methods in the presence of the Drug Disposal Committee. Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy oversaw the process.
