Man Arrested in Udupi for Sexual Harassment of Minor

Udupi: Udupi Police have arrested a 35-year-old man, identified as Muthu from Bagalkot district, on charges of sexually harassing a five-year-old girl. The case was registered under the POCSO Act at the Udupi Women's Police Station, prompting a swift investigation.

To trace the unidentified suspect, police formed five teams, reviewed multiple CCTV footages, and sought public assistance by sharing his details. Acting on a tip-off and through sustained efforts, the police apprehended Muthu near Vadiraj 3rd Cross, close to the Sri Krishna Matha, on Monday evening.

Muthu, the son of Yallappa and a resident of Sulibhavi village in Hungund, Bagalkot district, reportedly had no fixed address in Udupi and was often seen wandering the streets.

The police have commended the public’s cooperation in the case and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
