LoP Warns State Over Harm To Sanctity Of Chamundeshwari Temple In Mysuru
“Congress leaders have said Chamundeshwari temple is not a Hindu temple. If so, whose is it?”: Leader of Opposition R. Ashok
BENGALURU: Leader of Opposition in Assembly R. Ashok on Sunday stated after Sabarimala Ayyappa, Tirupati and Dharmasthala, all of them popular Hindu places of worship, now Chamundeshwari temple is the latest target of Congress leaders and warned the Congress ruled State Government to launch a protest on the lines of “Dharmasthala Chalo” if the sanctity of Chamundeshwari temple atop Chamundi Hills in Mysuru is “harmed” by the State Government.
The Leader of Opposition reacted to a statement by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar who a couple of days back said “Chamundi temple does not alone belong to Hindus.” Ashok was in Mysuru and visited Chamundi Hills to offer prayers to Goddess Chamundeshwari, the presiding deity of Mysuru.
“We will go to Dharmasthala (Monday to counter false news spread by a few individuals). If Chamundi temple is harmed, then Chamundeshwari Chalo will be launched to save its sanctity,” said the BJP MLA in a chat with reporters in Mysuru and stated “We fought for 500 years to save Ayodhya. If the toolkit culture continues, the downfall of Congress will begin.”
Pointing to a statement by Deputy Chief Minister over Chamundeshwari temple, Ashok said “Congress leaders have said Chamundeshwari temple is not a Hindu temple. If so, whose is it?”
Over the row on inauguration of Mysore Dasara festivities by writer Banu Musthaq, Ashok “The Congress government should not desecrate such sacred festivities, celebrated for hundreds of years by the erstwhile Mysore royal family.”
“I have prayed to the mother Chamundeshwari to bestow good sense to the Congress government and remove from their minds targeting Hindu religious places of worship. They (Congress party) should refrain from hurting the sentiments of Hindus,” Ashok said.
