KOPPAL: Two girls drowned after allegedly slipping into a farm pond while washing clothes on the outskirts of Yarehanchinal village in Kukunoor of Koppal district on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Lakshmamma (13) and Muttamma (11), residents of Timmapur village in Gadag district.
Yarehanchinal is a border-side village between Koppal and Gadag districts.
According to police sources, the girls had gone near an agricultural pond to wash clothes when they accidentally fell into the water resulting in their death. Kukunoor police visited the spot and registered a case.
